Muses
Muses is a fashion editorial born from a long-standing collaboration between myself and Lois Cohen.
The story explores the tension between object and subject, and the power dynamics embedded within artistic creation. A group of muses gathers after opting out of their assigned role as passive inspiration. They throw themselves a party, liberated from the artist who consumes them, bonds formed through play, dress-up, and performance.
The muses reveal hidden talents, entertain one another, and exist fully as autonomous beings. They are no longer references but works of art in their own right. Yet beneath the celebration runs a persistent ambiguity: the confusion of being seen versus seeing oneself, and the strategies required to navigate that space.
The editorial moves between dream and delirium, a visual language that mirrors this psychological in-between. It was published in Lampoon Magazine, situating the work within an ongoing dialogue around authorship, agency, and representation in fashion imagery.
